beat little heart
beat little heart
with all your might.
may the love in your veins
keep you strong at night.
believe in something.
believe in everything.
believe in miracles.
they’re yours tonight…
the silent, dancing train DJ
The man. The myth. The dj-ing legend! And, finally I got to see him live!!
It’s one of those rare moments you need to witness in order to understand why it’s so special. I even tried to describe him to my brother, but he sat on the couch laughing at my funny dance moves. No, no. You need to see him live, in all his glory in the stairwell of the B-Line train embellished in some 20 Obama pins and suspenders. And don’t forget the huge earphones drapped on his forehead.
Don’t even think of standing besides him or around him. That’s the space for his (invisible) turntables. The train was pretty packed, but that didn’t stop him from pushing his bags in front of a woman who tried to stand in the stairwell beside him.
The first few minutes of the ride, he spun a few slow tracks. Or so it seemed. Then he got bored and turned up the beat. He pulled out an (invisible) CD, turned the track and started bopping to it. I almost wish I could hear what he was playing since he was so into it! Maybe it was some Barry White. I was smiling all the ride through and he knew we were watching. And he loved it.
Why did he pull out a second huge pair of earphones towards the end? I have no clue. They disappeared into his bag soon after. He got off at Kenmore, looking left and right. Where’s he gonna play next and can I get advance seating tickets?
