Driving Green

Spotted this grassy minivan on Corniche El-Nahr on Wednesday. If you can’t drive green, might as well drive with some of it on your car! The minivan is for Quick Service, a Lebanese company specialized in landscaping and pest management. They offer a free pest inspection. (I wonder if ants count as pests because I can’t seem to get rid of the ones by my sugar bowl! Quite pest-y!)
While we’re on the topic of green cars, I’ve been hearing rumors about a new regulations to lift off tariffs on hybrid cars coming into Lebanon. A few weeks ago, the Daily Star published an article about the 2010 draft budget that “will include an item that will exempt companies and individuals from paying any import tariffs on hybrid cars.” Approval on this new draft budget is pending.
Other plans in the works? According to the same article, “the ministry is studying a plan to replace the entire taxi fleet in Lebanon with environmentally friendly vehicles.”
We’re headed in the right direction and certainly hope both these plans get put into action.. and soon!
