Saving Face

I haven’t been following the election campaigns here in detail, but there’s no avoiding all the headshots of politicians in suits plastered on every available inch of wall, building and pole. Some of these politicians strain a smile, some look like they are posing for mugshots and others are in serious need of some photoshop work. Hire a designer please!

If I had to elect a politician based only on these photos, I’d chose the one with the least photos. Or better yet, the one with no photos. That’s how you know they are different. And possibly environmentally-friendly. Did any of these politicians consider using the web for their campaigns? So much could be learned simply by studying Obama’s slick and effectively-targeted election campaign.

Speaking of charismatic politicians, here’s one with some potential:

She’s been staring at me for about two weeks from right outside my office window. Hey, it could be worse! I can have one of the triple-chinned politicians gawking at me, so no complaints here.

Something about her reminds me so much of Sarah Palin. Perhaps it’s her perfectly-coiffed hair, rosy cheeks and smart suit. Finally a politician who seems to know a thing or two about marketing herself. I don’t know what she’s like, but here’s hoping she’s NOT like Sarah Palin in the way that she was barely more than just a pretty face. Got to give McCain some credit for picking Sarah Palin – it’s the best publicity he could have done for his campaign.

Besides the Lebanese Sarah Palin above, there are several other women also running this year. And what’s better, more and more women are voting – and for the teams with women candidates. It’s a wonderful sign that we’re moving forward..

And hopefully more politicians start to save their faces for the times that really matter.

Obama’s Victory!

obama_headlines

We’ve witnessed history in the making. Congratulations Barack Obama! Geoff (at Going.com) put together a large webpage showcasing some 700 frontpages of newspapers from around the world (from Newseum) on the day that Barack Obama won the US Presidential Election. Check it out: Link

The selections are impressive, though toward the end some newspapers apparently either didn’t get the news, didn’t care or had to go to press before the results were in.

Welcome to My Blog!

Lorena's Epiphany was created one morning in 2006 and has joined me ever since. It's been my home-away-from-home and where I've been able to unleash my inner-most thoughts and musings. Hopefully one day I'll look back at this as an old lady and smile.
